The Weeknd – Starboy
Abel Tesfaye has been slowly losing his edge for years, and you could call ‘Starboy’ his first disappointment. Every song is written and every feature is chosen with radio airplay in mind. It all sounds professional and impersonal. His voice is made for this stuff, though – he channels Michael Jackson like no other. Although this is a pop album, there’s still some of that old-fashioned filthy R&B, but it’s weighed down by too much incoherent filler.
